Dominic Reyes Magician - Audience Reactions with Magician Camera

Yesterday, we sent out Dominic Reyes to perform close up magic at a drinks and Canapés party at London's South Bank. One of the options that is proving very popular with clients is a 'fly on the wall' video of our magicians performing for their guests.

Here's a short video from the magicians point of view, mixing with the guests through the evening and performing close up magic:

Most events will have a photographer present to capture all the fun, but our professional magicians camera option is a great way for our clients to receive a fun snapshot of everyone enjoying the party and being amazed by the magician.

The device is worn discreetly by the magician and captures hundreds of images through the evening automatically. It's then edited and any unwanted images are removed, before being sent to the client that books our magicians.

The service is proving to be very popular, especially when it's shared around the clients office after the event. It's a great way for companies to recontact their guests to share the video, and continue their conversations at the same time.

If you would like this option at your event, make sure you mention it to our event team and they will be happy to set it up for you.

How Much Does a Magician Cost

One of the first questions we get asked is 'How much does a magician cost?' It's not often that people hire a magician, so they may not know what price to expect.

In order to tell a client how much a magician will cost, we need to know a few details:

The date of the event - Some dates are very popular, such as public holidays. In December there are a lot of parties and events, so the more popular magicians tend to get booked up well in advance and their prices can be much higher. The weekends will often be more expensive to hire a magicians, compared to weekdays.

The number of guests - As a rule of thumb, we recommend 1 magician for every 150 guests. That way, you make sure that the magician is able to visit every group or table. For large events with several hundred guests, it's a good idea to hire more than one magician. The magicians will be able to work together to ensure they are performing different magic tricks and all your guests get to watch the magic.

The location - The proximity of an event can influence how much a magician costs. Professional magicians usually have magicians fairly close to your events location, but if a magician needs to travel long distances or requires an over night stay, then the cost of this needs to be included.

How much does a magician cost?

A standard magician for most events will cost from £350. The Professional Magicians Agency can supply an entertainer for most events at around this figure. Named magicians that are very much in demand tend to range from £500 upwards. You can probably hire cheaper magicians locally, but they are usually magic enthusiasts who perform magic as a hobby, or children’s entertainers who can also perform some basic magic tricks. In our experience, under £350 for a good magician is cheap, and the last thing you want at your event is a 'cheap magician'.

It's quite similar to hiring any other professional service. The secret is to get a few quotes from different performers, and choose the magician that you feel is right for your budget and the style of event you will be hosting. Using an entertainment agency can be a great way to obtain a number of quotes and find the perfect magician at a cost that is within budget for the event.

Can Guests Film Video of Magicians at Events?

We received a short video filmed by one of the guests at a recent event. The company booked Michael Fairall to perform close up magic for guests at their tables. It's a short little video, but nicely demonstrates the entertainment value good close up magic provides.

Guests often ask to film the magic when our magicians visit their tables. We encourage that to happen. The guests are having a great time and want to share the experience with their friends, work colleagues and family. That shows they loved  the experience, but also means it's something they want to share!

Our clients love their guests talking about the amazing time they had at the event. A video from their event, going viral is unbeatable publicity!

Using a UK Magician for Award Ceremonies and Events

Dominic Reyes - Michael Fairall - Ben Williams Pefrom Close-Up Magic for GFT

Professional Magicians were pleased to supply three of our top UK magicians for GFT at the 2012 awards this month. Dominic Reyes, Ben Williams and Michael Fairall entertained the nominees at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel in London's Mayfair area. As the magicians were sponsored by GFT, they worn custom made trader jackets flown in from New York and performed amazing close up magic tricks with playing cards featuring the GFT branding.

With several hundred guests to entertain, three magicians were the perfect choice. They were able to visit each table to entertain between courses and then mix with the guests after the awards into the night.

Using magicians in these types of events, really helps to keep up the energy in the room. Award ceremonies can be rather long sometimes, so using magicians not only breaks the ice and gets people talking, but also creates a playful feel to the evening. Adding in a companies branding to the playing cards used by the magicians is a must. The magicians often have a card signed by one of the guests in the process of a trick, and it's given to them to keep. These cards REALLY do get kept and shown around the office after the event!

Our Magicians Use Custom Branded Playing Cards

We were really pleased with the feedback we got from the event. The client reported that the magicians were one of the highlights and that guests had been telling them how amazing they were all evening. Well done guys!
